Boy, 7, run over in KZN

Johannesburg - A 7-year-old boy has died after being hit by a bakkie near Kwamashu, KwaZulu-Natal paramedics say.

ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak said paramedics found the boy's body lying on the side of the road. He was declared dead on the scene.

The bakkie was lying on its roof in a nearby ditch.

"Bystanders explained that the bakkie apparently swerved to avoid colliding with the child and overturned into the ditch, injuring the five occupants inside of it."

The occupants of the bakkie sustained minor injuries, they were taken to a nearby clinic.
