Bullied teen stabs 2 pupils, killing 1

Pretoria - Members of the Gauteng community safety department and the SA Police Service would conduct a raid at a school in Soshanguve, north of Pretoria, where two pupils were stabbed with a knife, a spokesperson said on Thursday.

"A bullying incident at Soshanguve Central Secondary resulted in the fatal stabbing of one learner and another was injured in the process," spokesperson Thapelo Moiloa told Sapa.

A 17-year-old pupil was apparently bullied by two other pupils, and went home to fetch a knife. Upon returning to the school he allegedly stabbed the two pupils.

"A pupil aged 17 died on the spot and the other one, 16 years of age, was taken to hospital. He was arrested on Monday and appeared in court on Tuesday where the matter was remanded to today [Thursday]," said Moiloa.

The pupil was kept in custody at a place for child offenders, Kusasa, in Cullinan. He would be moved to the Krugersdorp branch of the centre after Thursday's court appearance.

Gauteng community safety MEC Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane was expected to visit the families of the pupils.

Schools have to be more aggressive In addressing bullying in schools so this can be prevented.

Ok so he gets bullied and nothing gets done about it, but when he reacts to the bullies, he's the bad guy? Sad indeed. Bullying is a big and serious problem in schools and should be taken more seriously by parents and teachers alike. Victims of bullies become aggressive and when nobody take action, this is the end result of it. My son once said "he wish he could die and come back as a ghost to haunt his bully until the bully dies"

Unfortunately, he was pushed too far! And the meek become strong, even if only once. I am not condoning the act though.

This should NOT have happened, but because the education dept is NOT educating kids at school on how to deal with conflict.

Now he is no different to a bully, he is a killer...very sad!

Taking another persons life because you got pushed around is just wrong! Ask to be moved out of the school but killing is no way to solve a problem of this nature.

We as parents to boys need to tell our sons it's okay to cry and to feel vulnerable maybe that way the boys will start talking about being bullied instead of resorting to these measures. Yes, it is very important to teach out kids to be strong but we also have to let them know that showing pain is NOT a sign of weakness, especially the boys.

I have sympathy with kids that get bullied. These bullies are almost always also part of a selected group of hooligans. They hardly ever act on their own away from the comfort of the group.
