Cape Town - A 48-year-old man has been arrested for the murder of his wife after her bloodied body was found in the kitchen of their Cape Town home.
It is understood that a disturbance was reported at the Fifth Street, Heideveld, home at about 20:30 on Wednesday night, police told News24.
“Members following up on the complaint found the 47-year-old woman dead on the kitchen floor. She had been knifed in the neck,” an officer close to the investigation confirmed.
He said a provisional investigation indicated the couple had been arguing before the stabbing.
“The husband was not at the scene when the officers arrived. He later came to the police station to hand himself over.”
Provincial police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut confirmed the stabbing occurred during an apparent domestic dispute.
“He is due in court once he has been charged. The circumstances surrounding the matter are being investigated,” he said.
The case comes less than two weeks after a man was arrested only a few kilometres away for allegedly beating his wife to death with a broom in their Manenberg home.
The 26-year-old man appeared in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court last week after his wife, 25, died of injuries sustained during the beating.
