Carl Pistorius still in ICU - family

Johannesburg - Carl Pistorius, brother of murder-accused Paralympian Oscar Pistorius, is still in an intensive care unit after sustaining serious injuries during an accident which took place outside Modimolle, Limpopo, last week, his family said.

"Carl is still in ICU due to the serious nature of the injuries sustained in the accident and is still on the ventilator. He is stable and showing signs of improvement," family spokesperson Anneliese Burgess said in a statement.

The accident took place on Friday night outside Modimolle when the car that Carl Pistorius was driving collided head-on with another vehicle.

He had to be freed from the wreckage using the Jaws of Life before he and the driver of the other car were taken to hospital, both with serious injuries.

Two passengers in his car were left uninjured after the crash.

On Saturday, the Pistorius family issued a statement saying that the eldest of the three Pistorius siblings was medically "out of danger".

On Sunday, the police's Hangwani Mulaudzi said the investigation could still "take a while" as all relevant information was being gathered. However, he added: "We will make sure it is concluded as soon as possible."

Mulaudzi also refuted media reports that part of the investigation was into drunk driving.

"We want to categorically deny these claims."

In May last year, Carl Pistorius was acquitted on a culpable homicide charge in connection with an accident that took place in 2008 in which a motorbike driver died.

Yip..still don't care.

Yes Kirsty, it is because we "still don't care" why this country is in such a mess. He is a human being, just like you and me no matter what, he has the right to live. A God-given right. If everybody did care just imagine the difference . . . It is our duty to pray for each other and not to shrug each other off as if we are nothing.

@anton, the tech is not on how the accident happened, rather the curse that belies the Pis family. That OP will wail like a woman again in court. Yukk!

Copy and pasted directly from the IOL atricle that was published 6 days ago. That is low News 24. To copy and paste the article, word for word from someone else's article. That is stupid and lazy. Plagriarism. Get well soon Carl. Oh, i suppose News 24 will delete my comment as well.
