Johannesburg - Three men believed to have been involved in hijacking a cash-in-transit truck in Ermelo, Mpumalanga are set to appear in the area's Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
Lazarus Ndlovu, 30, Msizwa Mnisi, 22, and Kagiso Mutwa, 24, are expected to apply for bail when they make their second court appearance in connection with charges of robbing a G4S cash-in-transit truck at a filling station, a Sapa correspondent reported.
Provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said the men were arrested following an incident last Wednesday when G4S security guards were cornered by hijackers while collecting cash from a garage.
A gunfight ensued.
Police were alerted and arrested the accused after a car chase.
"Police arrested the driver immediately. The second suspect was arrested while trying to jump walls at a nearby house, while the last suspect was arrested at a supermarket where he pretended to be shopping,” said Mohlala.
The accused appeared in the Ermelo Magistrate's Court last Thursday and were not asked to plead to charges of armed robbery.
