Child rapist gets life in prison

Johannesburg - The Northern Cape High Court on Tuesday sentenced a man who raped a five-year-old child to life in prison, police said.

"The Northern Cape SAPS management welcomed the life jail term handed down on 39-year-old Hendrik Mohau Cutshwa by the Northern Cape High Court," Lieutenant Olebogeng Tawana said.

The child was playing outside her family's house in Valspan, Jankempdorp in 2011 when Cutshwa forced her to a nearby local sewerage plant and raped her.

He then ran to her grandfather and told him the girl had been raped.

Cutshwa was arrested after the girl pointed him out.
