Cop shot, arrested after Joburg robbery

Johannesburg - A policeman was arrested after he was shot and wounded following a robbery in Rosettenville, Johannesburg, on Monday, Gauteng police said.

"The constable is under police guard at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital after he was shot and wounded during a house robbery," Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said.

Dlamini said the metro police officer who shot the constable was patrolling in the area with other officers when they saw six men leave the house in Lang Street.

Metro police officers confronted the off-duty policeman and he pointed a firearm at them. The man was shot in the upper body and arrested. His appointment certificate and a pistol were seized.

His five alleged accomplices escaped with stolen goods including laptops and cellphones.

The low moral fibre of so many make it so easy to generalise about the SAPS and explain why crime levels are what they are. How can they find their way into positions of authority & power. Between these scumbags and lying politicians how will our society ever be equal and how will our country ever be able to uplift the lives of the poor. We need something to restore a set of moral values into the many many people. Should we blame parents for not teaching their kids or take the easy way out and blame Aparthied and the example set by our countries leaders?

Hahaha its so funny that the minority celebrate crimes from the natives and view it as government failures for some odd reasons, not that the Cabinet or government is made up of angels and the likes, you can't blame the Anc for child murders,Farm killings, domestic violence, rapes and all those other dispicable atrocities.people should grow up and move on from the past and view for what they are.

This I have always said - police are corrupt to the core! Its a problem now when one is being stopped by these thugs in police uniforms, because one stops and gets robbed as they ask for bribes and name the token as 'cold drink'One refuses to stop and they shoot you and say you ran away from law agents! Can anyone advise us the public, what do we do? Am I the only one with this dilemma?

The problem is, South Africa as a country has useless and irrelevant laws...This is the only country in Africa where criminals have rights...The only country in Africa where someone is being robbed broad daylight and people pass by and laugh...innocent until proven guilty in the court of law knowing fully well that one is a criminal in Africa ? Is useless. ..
