Johannesburg - Two police officers are allegedly part of a four-man gang that was nabbed trying to rob a clothing shop in Krugersdorp, police said on Monday.
The group was arrested on Sunday afternoon, said Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini.
"Police responded to a complaint of business robbery at a clothing shop where the victims were threatened with firearms and tied up with cable ties," said Dlamini.
"On arrival at the scene, the suspects were caught, only to discover that two suspects were police detectives."
The service pistols of the two cops, aged 26 and 41, were also discovered on the scene.
"Following further investigation, it was discovered that one of the suspects is an employee of the shop and the other is related to one of the policemen," said Dlamini.
Dlamini said action would be taken against the police officers.
