Johannesburg - The quick actions of a police Flying Squad officer on his way to work ended with four alleged house robbers face down on the tar and surrounded by police on Thursday morning.
Gauteng police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Katlego Mogale said the officer was driving from his home in Heidelberg to report for duty when he was stopped by a man saying he and his wife had just been robbed.
He described the car to the policeman who set off to look for it. He located the car and the victim confirmed it was the right one.
The police officer called for back-up and after a chase, the four were arrested next to Gray Avenue in Alberton without anybody being injured.
Police found two plasma television sets, a tablet, amplifiers and remotes in the car which the victim identified as his.
A case of possession of stolen goods was opened by police.
