Durban - Thousands are expected to turn out for an EFF Freedom Day rally at Inanda near Durban on Monday.
A large police contingent is also on high alert as party supporters start to trickle into the John L Dube Stadium.
People clad in vivid red regalia have already begun streaming into the stadium, and a crowd of about 2 000 supporters are expected.
Ranks of Public Order Policing Unit members, bolstered by a water cannon, will watch over the gathering, which is the culmination in a series of public appearances by EFF leader Julius Malema in KwaZulu-Natal over the weekend.
Malema and a high-level delegation have been visiting the transit camps which house foreign nationals displaced by xenophobic violence.
