Cuburne van Wyk murder case postponed

Johannesburg - The case relating to the murder of 3-year-old Cuburne van Wyk from Ramaphosa Informal Settlement in Reiger Park in Ekurhuleni was postponed in the Boksburg Magistrate's Court on Friday.

Nathaniel Katlego Mpoku, 25, appeared briefly in court.

He was dressed in a blue top and black pants and refused to look at the public gallery where family and community members were seated.

One woman said she wanted to kill him.

The case was postponed to 10 December for further investigation.

Mpoku will remain in custody as his bail application was abandoned.

Elroy Petersen, father of Cuburne, told reporters Mpoku was arrogant.

"It looks as if he has no care in the world," an upset Petersen said after the postponement.

Van Wyk disappeared on 6 August while playing outside with his siblings in Reiger Park. His burnt remains were found at a mine dump three days later.
