Richards Bay - Hundreds of Democratic Alliance members and observers have started arriving at the Zululand Chamber of Business Foundation in Richards Bay where the party's KwaZulu-Natal provincial congress is expected to take place on Saturday.
More than 600 people are expected to vote for the new provincial leadership.
The position of provincial leader is being contested by the current leader and member of the provincial legislature, Sizwe Mchunu and eThekwini councillor Zwakele Mncwango.
In a statement issued by DA provincial chairperson Haniff Hoosen earlier this week, he said the position of deputy leader was uncontested with one nominated candidate Mergan Chetty standing for the position. The position of provincial chairperson was also uncontested with Hoosen being the only nominated candidate.
According to the statement there are three deputy chairperson positions which will be contested. MP Dianne Kohler-Barnard is one of the nominees.
According to the agenda, Mmusi Maimane and Helen Zille are expected to address the crowd.
The congress is expected to start at 09:00.
