Dagga smuggling case postponed

Bloemfontein - The case against two suspected dagga smugglers in the Ficksburg Magistrate's Court has been postponed until Wednesday when they are expected to bring a bail application.

Relebohile Moses Moejane, 28, and Khotso Justice Mantis, 24, were allegedly caught with 80 bags of dagga on the Lesotho border on Thursday afternoon.

They were arrested after crossing the border at Peka Bridge port of entry, police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Thandi Mbambo told News24.

The police stopped the two men’s blue Ford Courier double-cab bakkie and searched it. The bags of dagga, weighing almost 74kg, were wrapped in black plastic and fastened to the underside of the chassis with binding wire.

The dagga has a street value of R103 000.
