Durban - Mystery surrounds dramatic closed circuit television (CCTV) footage showing men forcing their way through a heavy wrought-iron gate, the origin of which remains unclear.
The footage, which has over 100 000 views on the Facebook page Eblockwatch, said the incident had taken place in Durban North. The video is dated 08/10/2015.
However, Durban North police insist they know nothing about the car and the gang of house robbers.
"Morning guys. Be on the lookout for this Audi. Operating in Durban North, Greenwood Park and North Coast Road. Take a look at Eblockwatch Facebook," the caption read.
However, this appeared to be new information to area police.
Durban North police spokesperson Lieutenant Raymond Deokoran said he had no knowledge of the gang.
"We are aware of a white Audi spotted in Umdloti, which we believe may be linked to house robberies, but I don’t know anything about the vehicle you are talking about," he said.
Similarly, Marshall Security head Tyrone Powell said the footage should be viewed with circumspection.
"I have seen the video and at first the group said it had been operating in Morningside and then suddenly it is in Durban North and Greenwood Park. We are quite active in the area and we know nothing about it," he said.
