Johannesburg - The Economic Freedom Fighters want Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry Mzwandile Masina to withdraw a remark he allegedly made in Parliament during the presidency's budget vote speech.
Masina was allegedly seen mouthing “I will fuck you up” to a DA MP in the National Assembly on Tuesday, Netwerk24 reported.
Presiding officer Thoko Didiza reportedly said she would have the matter investigated before making a ruling.
Masina denied making the threat.
"The EFF believes that Mzwandile Masina must withdraw his offensive and threatening remarks in the National Assembly and apologise like any other member who has in the past been required to do so when found to have used unparliamentary language," national spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi said in a statement on Wednesday.
"The EFF is confident that members of the opposition would not lie about Mzwandile Masina's threats and insults because he once insulted the then general secretary of Cosatu, Zwelinzima Vavi, on national television, SABC 24 hour news channel, during the PYA [progressive youth alliance] press conference."
Ndlozi said Masina's actions were dishonourable, disreputable and violated the values of Parliament.
He said the EFF would be writing to National Assembly Baleka Mbete asking that the matter be dealt with by Wednesday the latest and Masina must withdraw his alleged comments.
