Durban - A man, 65, has been arrested for allegedly raping his wife, Eastern Cape police said on Friday.
Police spokesperson Captain Jackson Manatha said the wife, 52, was asleep with a 10-year-old old boy at Sigangala Location in Mnyameni Village on Tuesday when the rape occurred.
“The victim heard a knock at the door and the boy woke up to open [it]. The husband entered and demanded to have sex with the victim,” he said.
“The wife refused to have sex with him as there is a misunderstanding between the two. It is not clear where the husband was coming from at that time.
"The suspect then allegedly threatened to kill the victim as she did not want to consent to his sexual demands. The suspect eventually overpowered the victim and allegedly raped her,” Manatha said.
The woman reported the rape at Centane Police Station.
“The docket was handed to the Butterworth Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) detectives. The unit traced and arrested the man on Wednesday.
“The suspect will not be identified even after his appearance in court in order to protect the identity of victim," Manatha said.
