Johannesburg – Three youths and a minor are expected back in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday for allegedly killing Mozambican national Emmanuel Sithole.
Mthinta Bhengu, Sizwe Mngomezulu, and Sifundi Mzimzela and the minor allegedly beat and stabbed Sithole in Alexandra on March 18. At the time several townships around Durban were the scene of xenophobic violence, which spread to parts of Johannesburg.
The four had allegedly taken cigarettes from the street vendor without paying. When he confronted them about it, they attacked him.
Sithole’s death made front page news as a newspaper photographer and a journalist were on the scene and recorded the attack.
