Cape Town - A Fish Hoek man arrested for possession and distribution of child porn will reportedly apply for bail in the Simon’s Town Magistrate’s Court next week.
The 47-year-old suspect, along with three others in Hercules, Pretoria, was arrested on Wednesday by specialised detectives from the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit after ongoing investigation into child pornography rings in the country, police spokesperson Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo said in a statement.
Police confiscated six cellphones, four desktops, a laptop and three USBs during the arrests, he confirmed.
The suspects’ alleged illicit deeds were reported to the unit by police in Antwerp, Belgium, who arrested a Belgian resident for production, possession and facilitation of child pornographic images.
This suspect was found to be having two hundred and nineteen contacts in his user accounts.
The Fish Hoek suspect made his first appearance in court on Thursday.
