Johanesburg - Two men died and another man was injured when a heavy goods truck towing a container overturned and landed on top of a light delivery vehicle on Sunday evening, paramedics said.
Paramedics and other emergency services arrived on scene and found the N3 south bound near Montrose, Pietermaritzburg, obstructed due to the accident, said Netcare 911 spokesperson Santi Steinmann.
"The driver of the heavy goods vehicle was treated on scene and transported to hospital for further medical care."
The entire N3 in the area was closed off for the recovery operation, which was under way as of 18:00 on Sunday evening.
"Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation," Steinmann said.
