Hijackers hit mom in face as she pulls baby out of car

Johannesburg - A woman and her 4-month-old baby were injured during an apparent hijacking in Rosettenville on Wednesday morning, Johannesburg paramedics said.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said when paramedics arrived on scene, they found the mother and child standing next to their vehicle, which had crashed into a wall.

He said the woman told paramedics she was hit in the face while she was pulling her child out of the car during the hijacking.

The hijackers then sped away before crashing into the wall.

"It is believed the hijackers ran away," Meiring said.

"On assessment, paramedics found that both the mother and child had sustained only minor injuries in this incident.

"Paramedics treated both patients and transported them to South Rand Hospital for further treatment."

The incident was being investigated.
