A bus driver was shot and wounded on Ontdekkers Road in Newlands, west of Johannesburg, on Wednesday morning, paramedics said.
"The driver of the bus explained that an unknown amount of suspects entered the bus as he stopped near the Mollie Road bus stop and opened fire into the bus," ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak said.
The bus had several passengers on board at the time.
The bus driver, in his fifties, was shot in his abdomen.
Paramedics found the bus on the side of the road near the Mollie intersection.
No other injuries were reported.
