Joburg strikers help free woman from crashed car

Johannesburg - A vehicle overturned outside MTN's offices in Fairland, Johannesburg, where members of the Communication Workers Union (CWU) were striking on Wednesday.

Bystanders in the busy street heard the crash and rushed to help the driver.

They broke the window of the car to get her out and then pushed the vehicle back onto its wheels.

Police arrived on the scene and took her statement.

Paramedics arrived 30 minutes after the accident.

Witnesses said the driver hadn't been speeding or overtaking when the accident occurred.

A witness said the driver was shocked and emotional while sitting on the side of the road.

Nearby, unions loyal to expelled Cosatu leader Zwelinzima Vavi were addressing journalists outside the MTN office.
