Durban - Kwazulu-Natal Judge President Chiman Patel will be charged with crimen injuria and is expected to appear in court next month, the Mercury newspaper reported on Thursday.
According to the report Patel confirmed that he had received notification that he was to be charged.
Patel is alleged to have committed the offence when he reprimanded a clerk about a year ago.
National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Nathi Mncube told the newspaper that the Provincial Director of Public Prosecutions advocate Moipone Noko had decided to prosecute.
It was not clear whether Patel had been served with a summons or when exactly in November the case would proceed.
