Johannesburg - A man has been jailed for 38 years by the Pinetown Regional Court for repeatedly raping his stepdaughter, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Wednesday.
The 37-year-old was found guilty of five counts of rape and sentenced on Tuesday, Major Thulani Zwane said in a statement.
The girl’s ordeal began when she was 13.
“She stated that she was sexually abused after being drugged by the accused. She continued to be abused by the accused up until early January 2014, when she was just about to turn 17,” Zwane said.
She then told her friend, who told the girl’s mother. She opened a case with police and the Pinetown family violence and child protection unit took over the case.
