KwaZulu-Natal - One person died and 16 others were injured when a taxi crashed through a roadside barrier and rolled down an embankment on Sunday morning.
ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said the incident occurred on the M13. The taxi collided with some trees in the Shongweni area in KwaZulu-Natal.
"ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on scene and found the taxi wedged up against some trees. On assessment, paramedics found that one passenger, a man in his 20s, had sustained fatal injuries in the collision."
He said the other 16 had sustained minor to moderate injuries.
Meiring said the cause of the accident was not yet known, but investigations were on-going.
