KwaMashu violence condemned

Durban - KwaZulu-Natal Community Safety MEC Willies Mchunu condemned the violence on Friday during a protest in Durban's KwaMashu hostels.

In a statement, he said he was concerned at the upsurge in violence in the area during a reported service delivery protest, which apparently resulted in the shooting of a member of the ANC.

Police could not immediately confirm the incident.

"While we respect the constitutional right of all South Africans to protest and gather freely, such protest has to be done within the law," he said.

"Carrying and firing of firearms is strictly prohibited and should be strongly condemned."

He urged restraint and said all those involved should seek negotiations rather than resort to violence.

So rioters protesting over lack of service are not allowed to carry weapons but miners striking are?

The only crime committed here is by the elected parties. If the government officials actually did their job instead of stealing there would not be riots. But the anc shows that it does not care about their voters until election time. Then food parcels and lies are given out in excess.

One less ANC criminal thief to worry about. Viva.

Slowly but surely the masses are starting to get tired OF ALL THE PROMISES AND LIES.Willies should also remember that as all protests should be carried out within the law so should all government activities. Not that I am condoning the violence.
