Johannesburg - A man was arrested in Midrand on Tuesday after he allegedly stabbed another man several times, reportedly during an argument.
Midrand police spokesperson Constable Mamote Tlamela told News24 that police received a complaint around 08:40 about the attack at the corner of Le Roux and Morkel streets.
"Upon the arrival at the scene they met... [an] eyewitness who pointed out the suspect, who he saw stabbing the victim several times with a knife," Tlamela said.
"The police approached the suspect who handed himself [over]. The suspect also handed the knife he [allegedly] used to stab the victim with to the police."
The 18-year-old will appear in court soon on charges of attempted murder.
Paramedics said the 34-year-old victim was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.
"Reports from the scene indicate that two men started arguing when one man assaulted the other man," Netcare 911 spokesperson Santi Steinmann said.
