Johannesburg - A man was arrested in Germiston after he was found with over R1 million worth of counterfeit Adidas tracksuits, Ekurhuleni metro police said on Wednesday.
An officer stopped and searched a van on Tuesday morning around 09:40 after the driver handed him "dubious documentation" and found 1152 tracksuits, chief superintendent Wilfred Kgasago said in a statement.
The value of the tracksuits, priced at R1 000 a pair, was around R1.2m.
The driver tried to bribe the officer, Kgasago said. He was charged with possession of counterfeit goods and bribery and would appear in the Germiston Magistrate's Court soon.
