Man arrested for kidnapping, rape

Johannesburg - A man was arrested in Dube in connection with two kidnapping cases and a rape case, Gauteng police said on Thursday.

The 36-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday around 10:00, spokesperson Sibusiso Chauke said.

The man had been on the run since failing to appear in the Protea Magistrate's Court on charges of raping a 15-year-old girl in 2010 in White City, Soweto.

In 2011, the man was accused of kidnapping Mbali Nkosi, as he was the last person to be seen with her.

Nkosi went missing on 20 July 2011 and has not been found.

He was also accused of kidnapping a teenager in January 2011, also in White City.

The teenager managed to escape from a house through an open window.

"He was arrested and released on bail," Chauke said.

He later failed to appear in court and a warrant for his arrest was issued.

The man was expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Friday.
