Man arrested for raping woman in funeral parlour

East London - A 25-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping a 21-year-old woman several times in a funeral parlour in Dutywa, Eastern Cape police said on Sunday.

"It is alleged that the victim was coming from work on Friday, July 31 2015 at about 23:45 when she was accosted by the suspect while she was on her way to her rented flat at Dutywa town," Captain Jackson Manatha said.

"The suspect who was armed with a knife threatened the victim and dragged her to a nearby funeral parlour where he allegedly repeatedly raped her."

The man let the woman go and she found police patrolling the area and reported the rape.

Manatha said police found the man in a tavern in Dutywa.

He is expected to appear in the Dutywa Magistrate's Court on Monday.
