Man burns to death in sugar cane fire

Durban - A man died while burning sugar cane in Tongaat, KwaZulu-Natal, on Wednesday, paramedics said.

"Reports from the scene indicate that the man was part of a team burning sugar cane when he was trapped in the flames," said Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha.

The man sustained 90% burns.

He died at the scene due to his injuries.

RIP - must have been a horrible death. I don't know why cane farmers burn their cane, for heaven's sake. It kills so many wild animals and snakes, sends smoke and trash everywhere, If they cut the cane and trashed it it would be better for the land, as the trash can be used as a compost.
