Man dies in house fire after saving mom, boy

Johannesburg - A 60-year-old man was burnt beyond recognition in a house fire in Birchleigh, Kempton Park, on the East Rand on Monday, paramedics said.

His 84-year-old mother told paramedics he helped her and his 6-year-old nephew get out of the house before the roof collapsed on him, ER24 spokesperson Luyanda Majija said.

The cause of the fire was being investigated.
