Johannesburg - A man was shot and injured in Cosmo City, north-east of Johannesburg, on Tuesday evening, Gauteng paramedics said.
He had been shot in the stomach and was found lying on Eritrea Road, said ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring in statement.
"When ER24 paramedics, as well as Life Healthcare, arrived on scene, they found the patient lying next to the road in a serious condition. The man had been covered with a blanket by the crowd that had begun to gather.
"Paramedics assessed the patient and found that he had sustained a gunshot wound to his abdomen."
He was taken to Johannesburg General Hospital for treatment.
"Local authorities were informed of the incident so investigations could begin."
The police were not immediately reachable to give more information.
