Man held after R1m worth of tik found wrapped around his body

Johannesburg - A 52-year-old man appeared in the Kempton Park Magistrate's Court on Tuesday after R1m worth of tik was found wrapped around his body at OR Tambo International Airport.

Emmanuel Akunehuezi Obiwuru, who was travelling on a Nigerian issued passport, was arrested at the airport at the weekend, police spokesperson Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo said.

Obiwuru was one of three people arrested by the SA Police Service's transitional investigation team at OR Tambo International.

"At the time of his arrest, he had just disembarked from a flight that was coming from Lagos, Nigeria," Naidoo said.

"The drugs were found wrapped around his body."

Obiwuru's case was postponed. He would remain in custody in the interim.
