Man held for attempted murder

Johannesburg - A man has been arrested for attempted murder in Plettenberg Bay, Western Cape police said on Saturday.

On Friday around 21:00, a 35-year-old man was involved in an argument with a group of men, Captain Bernadine Steyn said.

He got into his car and tried to leave. He then allegedly tried to force a car, driven by one of the men he had been arguing with, off the road.

The second man, 39, then got out of his vehicle, took out a licensed 7.65mm pistol and allegedly fired two shots at the 35-year-old, wounding him in the mouth.

The wounded man was taken to hospital in George, where he remains in a stable condition.

Police heard the shots and responded to the scene, where they arrested the 39-year-old.

He is expected to appear in the Plettenberg Bay Magistrate's Court on Monday.
