Johannesburg - A man was killed and another critically injured in a collision between a minibus taxi and a bakkie on the R38 towards Kaapmuiden in Mpumalanga on Sunday, paramedics said.
When paramedics arrived on the scene they found that the taxi had rolled, ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said.
"He [the taxi driver] was found trapped under the taxi which had overturned."
The 46-year-old man was declared dead on the scene.
The bakkie driver had to be airlifted to hospital.
"The driver of the bakkie was trapped in his vehicle as well.
"Fire and rescue services used the jaws-of-life and other rescue tools to extricate him. He was assessed and found to be in a critical condition," Bodasing said.
The exact cause of the accident was unknown.
