Man killed as truck drives over car in Western Cape

Cape Town - A motorist was killed when a truck went over his car near Meiringspoort, Western Cape traffic authorities said on Tuesday.

“It looks like a side-swipe accident. The truck went over the car and the driver was trapped. He was the only person in the vehicle,” spokesperson Kenny Africa said.

The accident happened around 23:00 on Monday on the N12 between Meiringspoort and Beaufort West.

Meanwhile, in Pretoria, one man was killed and two were critically injured when their car left Van Der Hoff Road in Kirkney, Pretoria, and rolled around 22:00 on Monday, ER24 spokesperson Santi Steinman said.

All three were flung from the car.

One of the injured was airlifted to hospital.
