Johannesburg - One man died when his car rolled on the N2 south near the Portland cement factory in Durban on Sunday, paramedics said.

"A report from the scene indicates that the vehicle was traveling on the north bound lane when he overturned, the wreckage of his vehicle coming to rest on the south bound lane," Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said.

"Netcare 911 advanced life support paramedic and his crew arrived at the scene and found the man... sustained life threatening injuries. After they placed him on a ventilator, they immobilised him on a trauma board before transporting him to a nearby hospital."

The man died soon after arriving at the hospital.
