Man pours pot of boiling food over baby's face

Johannesburg - A man was arrested after he allegedly poured a pot of boiling chicken over the face of an 8-month-old baby in Jabulani, Soweto, Gauteng police said on Thursday.

Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela said the man allegedly had an argument with the baby's mother on Wednesday night.

"He found the mother and the baby sleeping and he [allegedly] poured a pot with chicken over the baby's face."

He said the baby was badly burnt.

The man was arrested and was expected to appear in the Protea Magistrate's Court on Friday on a charge of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
