Man shot in robbery at Joburg hospital

Johannesburg - A man was shot and wounded in an armed robbery at the Netcare Linksfield Hospital in Johannesburg on Monday, police said.

Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said the man was a security guard collecting money from the hospital along with his colleague.

"While he was in the reception area, he was attacked by two unknown men. They fired a shot and wounded him in the leg," he said.

The men fled on foot with the cash box which contained an undisclosed amount of money.

"Outside the reception area, police found a handgun without a serial number," said Dlamini.

Police were attending to the scene, and the security guard was in a stable condition.

"No one has been arrested yet," said Dlamini.
