Cape Town – Stellenbosch axe attack survivor Marli van Breda must be placed in the care of her aunt and uncle, the Western Cape High Court ruled on Tuesday.
This followed an application by Marli’s legal representative Louise Buikman.
High Court Judge Siraj Desai also ordered that the 16-year-old girl not be photographed or interviewed by the media without Buikman’s consent.
Buikman confirmed that Marli was in contact with her brother Henri, who also survived the attack at their luxury golf estate home in late January.
She will be attending school in the new term.
“[Marli] is currently enjoying a holiday visiting family and friends. She will be attending school with her peers in the new school term,” said the lawyer.
Marli and Henri, 20, survived an axe attack at their luxury golf estate home in Stellenbosch. Her parents Martin, 54, Teresa, 55, and 22-year-old brother were killed.
The teenager is said to be suffering from retrograde amnesia and cannot remember what happened on the night of the attack.
No arrests have been made.
