McBride jailed for drunken driving

Pretoria - Former Ekurhuleni metro police chief Robert McBride has been sentenced to two years in prison for drunken driving, according to Eyewitness News.

He was found guilty in April for drunken driving and defeating the ends of justice.

He was found to have been drunk when he crashed his state car on the R511 near Hartbeespoort Dam.

The State wants him to be sentenced to direct imprisonment on a count of defeating the ends of justice and a suspended sentence on a charge of drunken driving.

His lawyer wants him to be sentenced to correctional supervision.
