Johannesburg - Two men were arrested in Mthatha on Thursday for allegedly being in possession of illegal firearms and ammunition, Eastern Cape police said.
The men were allegedly found in possession of two firearms, one 9mm Norinco with 17 rounds of ammunition and a 9mm Lorcin with no rounds, said police spokesperson Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela.
Both firearms' serial numbers had been filled off.
"The men would be charged with possession of illegal firearms and ammunition and would be linked to other crimes," said Fatyela.
He said the firearms would be sent for ballistic testing.
