Metro cop shot, robbed

Johannesburg - A Johannesburg metro police officer was shot and robbed of his firearm in Soweto on Saturday, spokesperson Wayne Minnaar told Sapa.

Forty-eight-year-old Benedict Zulu was shot in the leg shortly after 16:00 while he was operating a speed camera along Elias Motsoaledi Road in Dobsenville, Soweto.

"As his partner was walking to their patrol car which was parked about 200m away, he heard gun shots. He turned and saw three men running into the bushes towards a mine after robbing the injured officer of his firearm," said Minnaar.

The partner then called for back-up and metro officers and members of the police responded to search for the gang.

"Three male suspects have been arrested but the firearm is still missing. The officer is in a stable condition at Milpark Hospital," he said.

Investigations were on going but it appears that the gun was the motive for the robbery. The three are expected to appear in court during the course of the week.

And the gun will be used to commit more crime. Solution= disarm the entire country. If one is found to be in possession of any gun, hang him or her.

Just another example to show that criminals are not afraid to commit any kind of crime... WHY ??? Because the chances of them getting away with it is 90%. And if caught they will most probably get bail, and just resume with what they were doing... It time that some examples were made... Death penalty, more harsh sentences... Criminals have more rights in this country than innocent people... Just ask Nr1... Crime pays

I am no conspiracy-theorist, but when I read this story, a little voice in my head said: " his partner shot him", I don't know why? Maby he lost or sold or commited a crime with the gun, who knows. The thing that suprised me most is that they caught 3 supects. Even criminals will not attack policemen. Period.

We live in a corrupt state, with a very weak law intented to betray the innocent and protect the criminal people....i guess its about time to make a stand and demand a death penalty from our government in case of a clear evidence offence....and such culprits should be put through some series of severe torture before they go to hell. We must adopt harsh rules in order to live in harmony in this country....i wish these guys would be slain or lockedup with a lion in a cage unarmed or swim with an untamed shark
