Minibus taxi slams into truck carrying bricks

Bloemfontein - Fourteen people were injured in an accident involving a minibus taxi and a truck on Rudolf Greyling Road in Bloemfontein on Wednesday morning.

ER24’s Russel Meiring said when their paramedics arrived on the scene, they found the taxi and truck parked on the side of the road. The truck had been carrying a heavy load of bricks at the time of the collision.

Paramedics found that 14 people from the taxi had sustained minor to moderate injuries.

The patients were treated on the scene and then transported to Life Rosepak and Pelonomi Hospitals.

Local authorities are investigating to determine the cause of the accident.

Netcare 911 media liaison officer Chris Botha said reports indicated that the taxi slammed into the rear of the truck.

The collision took place at about 07:12, he said.
