Johannesburg - Family members of missing Democratic Alliance North West deputy leader Petro Nel are positive she will be found, her husband JC Nel said on Thursday evening.
Speaking to News24, Nel said the family had not received any new information since they were informed of his wife's disappearance on Thursday morning.
"We haven't heard anything since this morning when I got the message... the plane was lost and there was a search team sent out and a helicopter," he said.
"But they have stopped it [the search] now because they are four hours ahead of us, so they stopped it quite a few hours ago because it's too dark and hopefully tomorrow [Friday], I'll get good news."
He said he would remain "positive" in the interim.
"I am sure they will find them and they are hopefully in good health and good spirits," he said.
Nel's plane went missing while on a sightseeing flight in Nepal on Thursday.
A search and rescue mission involving a light aircraft and helicopter were launched. The plane Nel was on took off from the town of Pokhara.
News agency Agence France-Presse reported the ultralight aircraft was being flown by a Russian pilot. She was the only passenger.
JC said the family had received a lot of support from the DA.
"I've got a lot of support from the previous leader of the DA [in the North West] Chris Hattingh and the current leader Joe McGluwa. I've got full support and they are ever so often on the phone to me, helping me, seeing what they can do," he said.
Petro had been a councillor in the Matlosana municipality for the past 15 years and was elected as the party's deputy leader in the province this year.
The search resumed on Friday morning.
