Priya Naidoo spokesperson for Tsogo Sun told News24 that a gust of wind blew that Hyundai helium passenger balloon into a tower at Montecasino.
She said: “We are looking into the incident with our tenant Aerial displays… we can confirm that the operator has minor injuries."
Naidoo denied media reports that the balloon was shot down.
Earlier eNCA reported the balloon was allegedly shot down after it was blown off course by a gust of wind during a safety check, which caused the ropes to snap and losing the netting that kept the balloon in place.
The Citizen reported that a cable snapped loose and the carrier fell off. The balloon then burst.
Eyewitness News reported that paramedics were on the scene to treat one person, apparently the operator, who was on board during the safety check.
However, EWN added that the casino denied anybody had been injured.
People in the area took to social media to share pictures of the balloon in the sky over Fourways, and of the house where it landed.
Witness in the area said they saw the balloon float past, followed by what the described as a gunshot.
