Durban – An 18-month-old boy's mother brought him back from the brink after he nearly drowned in Umkomaas, south of Durban, on Wednesday afternoon.
Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said the mother found the child floating in the pool and pulled him out. She immediately started to give him CPR.
"A fantastic effort from the mother led to the child’s heart starting and when paramedics arrived at the scene the child started breathing again," Botha said.
After treating the boy, paramedics took him to a hospital in Scottburgh, where he is in a serious condition.
