Johannesburg - North West police said on Saturday that a 26-year-old had been arrested for allegedly trying to rob a cash-loan business at the Marikana shopping complex.
The man, part of a gang of four, was arrested after police received a tip-off, said police spokesperson Pelonomi Makau.
The gang apparently intended to rob the cash-loan business.
She said: "On arrival, police managed to arrest a suspect and the three others fled the area in a beige Toyota Yaris."
"The [information on the] vehicle was circulated and it was discovered that it was stolen in Gauteng."
The man was allegedly found in possession of a firearm and five rounds of live ammunition.
Preliminary investigations revealed the four were from Letlhabile and Ga-Rankuwa.
The man was expected to appear in the Marikana Periodical Court on Monday.
Anyone with information on the other three gang members was urged to contact police in Marikana.
