Johannesburg - News24 took to the streets of Johannesburg this past Tuesday to show motorists just how much breaking news they may be missing during the course of a day.
In a play on classic newspaper street posters, the News24 marketing team, in partnership with Ogilvy Cape Town, created an industrial print set-up at the corner of William Nicol Drive and Sloane Street in Bryanston, Johannesburg.
Headlines were fed through from the editorial team in Cape Town to the marketing team in Bryanston, who then placed them on A2 posters on a single street pole.
As the day’s news broke on South Africa’s top online news website, so it did on the pole.
In one hour, the teams managed to put up 20 headlines. After 12 hours, an astounding 136 posters were printed and produced, showing just how much faster News24 produces news every day.
“This activation was certainly a first in South Africa and an exciting and effective way to demonstrate just how fast and fluid News24’s app puts the world’s events in the palm of your hand,” said 24.com Head of Marketing, Nadia Boucher Coombe.
